MIS EXPECTATIVAS

Me llamo Venus E. Gonzalo Picazo, soy maestra de inglés en el CEIP Rosa Chacel, Collado Villalba.
Durante este curso estoy trabajando en tercero de Primaria, dando las áreas bilingües (Inglés, Sociales, Naturales y Plástica) además de Valores Sociales y Cívicos en castellano.


Elegí este curso para poder mejorar mi práctica docente, especialmente en el tema de evaluación que es uno de los elementos de mi práctica docente del que menos orgullosa me siento. Necesito estrategias para mejorar en este sentido. Las áreas que imparto, especialmente Sociales y Naturales, suponen un gran reto y esfuerzo para mis alumnos y los resultados no son los esperados. Tengo la sensación de haber trabajado los contenidos de manera que estén asimilados y los resultados de los exámenes muestran lo contrario.
Por otro lado, tengo muchos alumnos  y me gustaría encontrar estrategias para poder recoger mucha información de su proceso de aprendizaje.


La lectura del tema 1(Una evaluación para aprender. Primera aproximación) me ha hecho darme cuenta de errores en los que caigo como maestra. Acabo de dar las notas a mis alumnos del primer tema y su resultado negativo parece un castigo del que ellos no pueden sacar más beneficio que estudiar para el siguiente tema.
Resumiendo, espero nutrirme de muchas buenas ideas para adaptarlas y ajustarlas a mi práctica docente. (Ya he aprovechado la idea de VISUAL THINKING y he modificado un mapa conceptual para mis alumnos haciéndolo más visual, espero que funcione muy bien).

BLENDING SOUNDS

In order to prepare our students to read it is very important to work on blending sounds.
These are different ways to do it.

• THE CLASS READING MATCHINE. Choose 4 students in the class. Three of them will be the sounds of a word and the fourth one will be the reading matchine. The teacher gives each student a sound and they have to say their sound one after the other. The fourth student will put the three sounds together. You can also do it with the letters written down on a piece of paper that they will hold.

• Work on the COMPUTER. I enclose some of the games I have come across.

GETTING KIDS TO LISTEN TO THEIR MATES

Many times we ask our students to work in pairs and ask questions to their partener.
But afterwards we tend to ask individually what they think about it.

Let's make a twist in this practice. We want to make sure they use the language and at the same time we want them to get used to listen to their mates when they work in pairs.

I will give an example.

GROUPING:   In pairs.

HOW TO DEVELOP THE ACTIVITY:
Ask your partener "What's his/her favourite day of the week and why"
Give them 2' to practise.

CHECKING: Ask the students about their parteners, not about themselves.

First time you do it may be difficult for them but if you try 2 or 3 times you will be training them to listen to their mates, asking for a purpose, and thinking of other people instead of themselves.

CREATING POWER POINTS WITH OUR STUDENTS

The idea is to create a powerpoint during the class with the students.
It can be used to review a topic, the teacher asks questions he wants to include in the powerpoint.
In the presentation you can include images searched in google.

Once the PPS is finished:
1st Create an account in Slideshare, http://www.slideshare.net/.
2nd Upload the powerpoint presentation
3rd Embed the presentation.
4th Copy it in your blog, using the HTLM option, instead of the Writing one, it is on the left corner of the entrace window.

Then your students can enjoy the PPS at home.

This is an oral  motivating activity, which makes students speak spontaneously about a given topic.


What do you need?
You need an mp3 recorder.
In this example we created an account on soundcloud.com.
You could also use windows movie maker and write the lyrics.

My colleague at school recorded it, the audio it is not very good you can work on the audio before loading it. These children were in January, Year 2.
 I hope you like the idea.

CREATE INTERACTIVE POSTER

Glogster is a very simple tool to create Interactive poster, where you can include videos.
I'll show you one example.
Steps:

1.  http://edu.glogster.com/
2. Sing in as an educator
3. Follow the  steps.
4. Once you have done  your poster you can embe it and copy it in your blog. or you copy the web address.

MIND MAPS

In order to help your students to study you can create your own mind maps.

I have used  BUBBL US to create a mind map about animals, Primary year 2.

A further activity we can carry out would be to record their voices reading the mind map or talking about it.
